Every Wedding Celebration Deserves a Saree That Tells a Story

Every Wedding Celebration Deserves a Saree That Tells a Story | By Priyanka Gupta

Weddings are a beautiful blur of emotion, rituals, music, and joy. But let’s be honest — what everyone really notices (and remembers) is what you wore. Your outfit doesn’t just reflect your taste — it hints at your relationship with the bride or groom, your personal sense of style, your city, your vibe, and sometimes even your star sign!

At Summer by Priyanka Gupta, we often meet sisters, cousins, and best friends of the bride who say things like, “I’m the bride’s bhabhi — I have to stand out,” or “She’s the groom’s sister — we need something absolutely unforgettable.”

And when it comes to unforgettable, hand embroidered sarees for weddings are unmatched.

A Bridal Saree Written in the Stars: A Real Bride Story

One of our favourite bridal projects was for an Indian-Australian bride. “I’m getting married in Bali,” she told Priyanka, “right by the beach.”

She had already finalized her wedding décor — soft blues, starlit skies, and pretty much every hue of flower. Initially, she wanted a saree that would sit well with her decor. Over a long, flowing conversation, she shared everything that inspired her: the colours of flowers, something global yet very traditional — something that sat comfortably in the contemporary (like her) — and her lifelong fascination with the galaxy.

“I want the galaxy in my saree,” she smiled. “I’ve always loved the stars. And isn’t marriage all about the stars aligning?”

We took her vision and translated it into a custom bridal saree — delicate constellations stitched with sequins and zari, captured in hearts, surrounded by soft floral vines. It turned out to be a stunner — shimmering, romantic, and so very her.

That’s the thing about custom embroidered bridal sarees — they don’t just reflect your style; they reflect your story.

The Magic of Hand Embroidered Sarees

There’s embroidery — and then there’s hand embroidery, where every motif, thread, and shimmer is placed with intention and care.

At Summer, our embroidered sarees feature threadwork, sequins, beads, resham, dabka, and gota — brought together over weeks, sometimes months, of deliberations and samplings. You’ll spot birds, florals, and even entire forest stories on our fabrics — always light, luxurious, and full of personality.

Sarees for Every Wedding Moment

Whether you’re the bride, her sister, her friend, or that cool cousin with the best playlist, there’s a saree with your name on it. And here are my recommendations:

1. Haldi & Mehendi: Bright, Playful, Perfect

Start with floral embroidered sarees in organza or chiffon. Look for light drapes, neon blooms, and easy movement. These sarees match the mimosa mood — fresh, fun, and full of flair.

2. Engagements & Cocktails: Sparkle & Substance

Choose something sleek with sequins or tonal embroidery — think drama, but make it chic. These embroidered cocktail sarees are made for dancing and photo ops.

3. The Wedding: Personal, Poetic, Powerful

This is the moment for statement pieces — something traditional, something beautiful and standout, something that you will love to see in pictures even 20 years from now. Something your daughter will want to inherit and wear to a special wedding.

4. Reception: Romance in Pastels

For your final look, go pastel with fine beadwork and soft shimmer. Think timeless grace, minus the weight. These embroidered reception sarees are subtle scene-stealers.

How to Style Your Embroidered Saree Right

  • Jewellery Match: Diamonds or polki work beautifully with embroidery — choose depending on the zari or sequin tone.
  • Drape Drama: Try a belted drape for the mehendi or a flowing pallu for the pheras.
  • Beauty Vibe: Fresh dewy skin, kohl eyes, and flowers in your hair often elevate a look more than layers of makeup.
